This week's "Evening Concert" showcases performances of the major orchestras of (in chronological order) Milwaukee, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.

Pianist Alessio Bax is featured in the two works on tonight's first hour, with a second hour of fascinating songs by composers banned by the Nazis.

With the passing of Music Director Emeritus Kurt Masur in December, the Philharmonic was prompted to assemble this "all-American-music" program from the Philharmonic's archives.

"Classic" classics from Mozart (the 4th Horn Concerto and "Haffne" Symphony) and Haydn (the trumpet Concerto, the "London" Symphony) tonight.

In addition to the Messiaen work on the program, Ravel's "Piano Concerto in G Minor" is featured with Jean-Yves Thibaudet as soloist.
