The Evening Concert

Wednesday night February 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony as performed by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra led by Ariane Matiakh.  Also on the program, Charles Koechlin’s “Towards the Starry Vault” and Bryce Desser’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Pekka Kuusisto.

Tuesday night January 31 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “9th Symphony”.  Also on the program choruses from Verdi operas and his Requiem.

Monday night January 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “1st Piano Concerto” with soloist Lars Vogt. Also on the program, Debussy’s “Images for Orchestra” and Daniel Börtz’s “Parados”.

Sunday night January 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Nino Rota’s “Trio for Flute, Violin, and Piano” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear guitarist Alvaro Pierri on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night January 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Mozart’s “39th Symphony” and Haydn’s “Overture to ‘Armida’”. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts. Also on the program Beethoven’s “3rd Piano Concerto” with soloist Till Fellner.

Wednesday night January 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the fourth program in a new series: “Orchestras from the European Broadcasting Union”. Thomas Dausgaard leads the BBC Symphony Orchestra in two of Nielsen’s symphonies. Also on the program, Mozart’s “Clarinet Concerto” featuring Jörg Widmann.

Tuesday night January 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “3rd Piano Concerto” with soloist Jeremy Denk. Michael Tilson Thomas guest conducts. Also on the program Schoenberg’s orchestration of Brahms’ “Piano Quartet in G Minor”.

Monday night January 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic’s 2013 “Bach Variations” festival you’ll hear two of Bach’s “Orchestral Suites” and two of his “Violin Concertos” featuring soloist Isabelle Faust.

Sunday night January 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Franz Schubert’s “1st Piano Trio” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music by Claudio Santoro on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night January 19 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “1st Symphony” and Esa-Pekka Salonen’s “Helix”. Juraj Valcuha guest conducts. Also on the program Sibelius’ “Violin Concerto” with soloist Augustin Hadelich.
