The Evening Concert

Monday night February 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Shostakovich’s 7th Symphony, the “Leningrad”. Also on the program, Britten’s “Violin Concerto” featuring soloist Simone Lamsma.

Sunday night February 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Debussy’s “Premiere Rhapsody for Clarinet and Piano” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear a program of Afro-Latin American music on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night February 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Brahms’ “3rd Symphony”. Christopher Konig guest conducts. Also on the program Richard Strauss’ Don Quixote” with Maximillian Hornung and Randolph Kelly as soloists.

Wednesday night February 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Sibelius’ “6th and “7th Symphonies” performed by the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra led by Dima Slobodeniouk.  Also on the program, Nielsen’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Baiba Skride.

Tuesday night February 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Ravel’s “Mother Goose” ballet music and Stravinsky’s “Symphony in Three Movements”. Also on the program Bryce Dessner’s “Violin Concerto” featuring Pekka Kuusisto.

Monday night February 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture”, and Wagner’s “Siegfried Idyll”. Also on the program, Faure’s music to “Pelleas et Melisande”.

Sunday night February 19 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mozart’s K.581 “Clarinet Quintet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear a “Celebration of Women Composers of Latin America” on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night February 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Mozart’s “Mass in C Minor”. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts. Also on the program Schumann’s “Piano Concerto” with soloist Martin Helmchen.

Wednesday night February 15 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Dvořák’s “7th Symphony” performed by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra led by Marta Gardolińska.  Also on the program, Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Piano Concerto” with soloist Vadym Kholodenko.

Tuesday night February 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess Symphonic Picture”. Also on the program Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G Major” with soloist Inon Barnatan.
