The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Jean-Yves Thibaudet is the soloist in Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”.  Also on the program Copland’s “Appalachian Spring Suite” and Schumann’s “2nd Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s Carnegie Hall Live. You’ll hear string quartets by Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Janacek played by four different groups: the St. Lawrence String Quartet, the Pavel Haas Quartet, the Takacs Quartet and the Elias Quartet.

From the CSO archives you’ll hear Haydn’s “103rd Symphony” and Bartok’s “Miraculous Mandarin”.  Pierre Boulez conducts.  Also on the program Ligeti’s “Piano Concerto” with soloist Pierre-Laurent Aimard.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic archives you’ll hear Vladimir Horowitz play Rachmaninoff’s “3rd Piano Concerto”. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “Isle of the Dead” and Respighi’s “Feste Romana”.

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Rachmaninoff’s “3rd Piano Concerto” from New York, Haydn’s “103rd Symphony” from Chicago, Tchaikovsky’s “1st String Quartet” from Carnegie Hall, Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” from Los Angeles, then Sunday Schumann’s “Five Pieces in Folk Style” from Lincoln Center and Latin American guitar music on “Fiesta! Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s Carnegie Hall Live, celebrating their 10th Anniversary Season. You’ll hear a complete performance of J.S. Bach’s “St. John Passion” by the “Les Violins du Roy and La Chapelle de Quebec led by Bernard Labadie.
