Organist Cameron Carpenter is the soloist in Saint-Saen’s “Organ” Symphony and Poulenc’s “Concerto for Organ, Strings, and Timpani”. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider guest conducts. Also on the program, Dukas’ ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”.
Monday night June 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the archives you’ll hear Verdi’s “Requiem” with vocal soloists Angela Meade, Lilli Paasikivi, Russell Thomas and Eric Owens with the New York Choral Artists chorus. Alan Gilbert conducts.
Sunday night June 4 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Clara Schumann’s “Violin Romances” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Enescu’s “String Octet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Manuel Ponce and others on “Fiesta”.
Friday night June 2 at 6:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s Gateways Radio. Garrett McQueen is your host. You’ll hear the Gateways Festival Orchestra led by Michael Morgan play Adolphus Hailstork’s “An American Port of Call”. Also on the program traditional spirituals and Carlos Simon’s “Amen”.
Thursday night June 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear Seong-Jin Cho play Mozart’s “23rd Piano Concerto” with the Bamberg Symphony led by Andrew Manze. Also on the program Haydn’s “91st Symphony”.
Wednesday night May 31 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” and the “Violin Concerto” with soloist Leila Josefowicz. Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts.
Tuesday night May 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Haydn’s “Drum Roll” Symphony and Bartok’s “The Miraculous Mandarin”. Also on the program, Ligeti’s “Piano Concerto” with soloist Pierre-Laurant Aimard.
Monday night May 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” with an all-Britten program conducted by Alan Gilbert. You’ll hear the “Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings”, and the “Spring Symphony”. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.
Sunday night May 28 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Amy Beach’s “Piano Quintet” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Tchaikovsky’s “Piano Trio in A Minor” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Julian Orbon on “Fiesta”.
