On the 21st: High schoolers who play high-contact sports are faced with the potential for injury, such as concussions. We learned more about what the state is doing to protect student athletes. We also talked about the burning rivalry between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. We also found out how you can make state fair food at your own home.

On the 21st: We heard from researchers who have developed a drug delivery system to treat dogs with bone cancer. We also spoke about Illinois's political power struggle, learned about a fishing tournament aimed at eliminating invasive species, and heard from the co-owner of a central Illinois music venue that will be hosting a punk music festival this weekend.

LGBT Foster Children; Lost And Found Dogs; Precision Medicine; Pencils World Record

On the 21st: We talked about the outreach that the Illinois Department of Family Services is making to the broader LGBT community to help place LGBT children in foster and adoptive homes. Also, we had the story of a Belvidere woman whose dog was missing for more than a month - and the happy ending helped along by strangers. Plus, we learned about the White House initiative on precision medicine and checked in on the attempt in Chillicothe at a world record for the longest line of pencils.

Dementia Caregivers; Nutrition Perceptions

On The 21st: We talked about what it means to be a caregiver for a person living with dementia - we were joined by a Champaign caregiver and a licensed professional counselor at Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter. Plus, we talked about what foods people think are healthy versus what nutritionists say are actually healthy.

On the 21st: We heard highlights from a recent interview with Speaker Michael Madigan, and learned about how the state budget impasse is impacting a non-governmental organization that supports social service agencies across the state. We also talked about the science of sunscreen and met a chemistry graduate student who wants to raise awareness about scientists with disabilities.
