The Evening Concert

This week (starting Monday, March 28) on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “Pathetique” Symphony from New York, Beethoven’s “2nd Symphony” from Chicago, Viennese waltzes from Pittsburgh, Beethoven’s “9th Symphony” from Beijing, and Sunday chamber music by Dvorak from Lincoln Center and “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Sunday night March 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Tansman’s “Septet” for Winds, Brass and Strings on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear “Violin Virtuosos” of Latin American Classical Music on “Fiesta!” With Elbio Barilari”.

Thursday night March 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “This Week from China’s National Centre for the Performing Arts”. You’ll hear Schubert’s “9th Symphony”, Beethoven’s “Overture to the Ruins of Athens” and Johann Strauss, Jr.’s “Blue Danube Waltz”.

Wednesday night March 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. Soprano Rachele Gilmore, counter tenor Andrey Nemzer, tenor Werner Gura, and bass Alexander Elliott are the vocal soloists with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Handel’s “Messiah”.

Tuesday night March 22 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Xavier De Maistre is the soloist in Ginastera’s “Harp Concerto”. Also on the program Chabrier’s “Espana” and Ravel’s “Bolero”.

Monday night March 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Music Director Jaap van Zweden leads the Philharmonic in Brahms’ “1st Symphony” and Tragic Overture”. Also on the program John Adams’ “The Wound Dresser”.

This week starting Monday, March 21 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Brahms “1st Symphony” from New York, Ginastera’s “Harp Concerto” from Chicago, Handel’s “Messiah” from Pittsburgh, Schubert’s “9th Symphony” from Beijing, and Sunday chamber music by Tansman from Lincoln Center and “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Sunday night March 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear two sonatas by Mozart on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear guitar music by disciples of Andres Segovia on “Fiesta!” With Elbio Barilari”.

Thursday night March 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “This Week from China’s National Centre for the Performing Arts”. Lang Lang is the soloist in Beethoven’s “Emperor Piano Concerto”. Also on the program Brahms’ “Song of Destiny”.

Wednesday night March 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. Maximillian Hornung is the soloist in Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto”. Pablo Heras-Casado guest conducts.  Also on the program Tchaikovsky’s “1st Symphony” and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio Espagnol”.
