Author Interview: Katherine May, “Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times”

Reginald Hardwick/Illinois Newsroom

Winter is a season. It can be cold, dark, and dreary. And just as the outside world changes around us in these ways, it can also mark the beginning of shifts in our personal lives.  According to our next guest, it can be “a fallow period in our lives” when you’re feeling isolated, alone, or blocked from progress.

This year — a pandemic winter — it feels like the challenges are compounded. But our next guest says  we can come out of the other side of winter–both the literal and more figurative versions–by embracing it. By leaning in and taking advantage of the opportunity to hibernate, heal, and regroup.

To speak more about taking advantage of the winter time, The 21st was joined by the author of the recent book Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times.

Guest:
